Check out this build for a new PC. It will mostly be used for Minecraft and day to day stuff. Wont be playing any AAA games on it as I have playstation for that.

What do you think? Anything need changing?

Would appreciate any thoughts from people with more knowledge on this subject.

Thanks.

make it 12 gb ram or even 16 and you are golden for a long time, the 8 is very low for playing games especially with a 1050 ti

I agree with this as well. Nowadays 8gb is pretty low so id definitely increase that but otherwise looks pretty good

If it's not too late, I just built my first PC.  I don't know a lot about hardware (more of a software guy I guess, hardware just confuses me), but I'm running on an Intel i3 and 8GB (4GBx2) RAM.
When I told my friends that decision, they pulled their hair out of their heads, but I have a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti as my graphics card so I'm good on graphics.  If you know how to work a computer well, getting any more than 8GB for Minecraft and everyday computer usage is complete overkill.  I'd suggest not getting an i3 if you also like having Discord or Spotify open at the same time, but it works fine enough for me.  Anything better than an i5, again, is probably overkill unless you want your computer to last forever.  But considering the two of us both use our PS4s for the actual games, I'd say you're in the same boat as me.
If you've already started gathering the parts, though, having those "overkill" pieces will definitely last you much longer and if you, at any time, decide to switch to PC gaming, you'll be happy you got them.
If you're a complete noob like I was, I recommend the following video to help you build your PC.  I watched it up until he set up the drivers, and I couldn't manage to follow him after that part, but hopefully the rest is optional.

Oh and add me on PS4.  I have no friends and I'm plugging my IGN like a little scumbag: Narwhals64

having more than 8 gb isnt even close to overkill. I had issues in minecraft on my old pc with only 8 gb of ram and 16gb has pretty much become the norm now.

I'm not going to sit here and argue about hardware because I'm not much of an expert, but to me, that seems like a problem with how the RAM was allocated.  In my personal experiences,
I've been able to run games like Minecraft on any old computer.  I've found that Mojang (Mojang, not Microsoft) was actually quite skilled at optimizing their game, much like how League of Legends can be played on anything from a supercomputer to a potato-powered toaster oven.  It doesn't matter how much of a monster your computer is, as allocating anything more than 4GB to Minecraft probably won't do anything,
unless you're running some crazy 512x512 resource pack with 64 chunks render distance and heavy shaders on Feed The Beast.

Minecraft will run smoothly with gb ram, but consider that windows can use up to 3 gb of ram too, if you really want to allocate 4 gb of ram to mc it's prone to run out of memory and will srash your pc, also having 8gb of ram and paying more for a powerfull graphics card doesn't make much sence. Seeing as how minecraft is going to implement more and more stuff, it's likely to become heavier to run.

So futurewise it's recommended that he takes more then the 8gb in his original post. Like stated before 12gb will be good and 16 even better if you have the money to buy ram at the current prices. if not 8gb is sustainable until the prices lower enough to buy a second stick (if it fits in the motherboard).

and the i3 would possibly bottleneck a 1050ti
