FAQs

What kind of tournament is it?

For season 1, there will be a round-robin group stage. You will play against each person in your group once, and top players from each group will advance to the knockout rounds. A win in the group stage grants 3 points, a draw will grant both teams 1 point each and 0 points to losers. Knockout stage will involve 1v1 games. Winner advances to the next round, loser gets knocked out of the tournament. All the way until the finals and we get a winner.

Are there specific rules to the game?

Yes. Click here for more!

Will there be a specific schedule for the games? I might not make it.

During the group stage, all groups must finish all their games within a 10 day frame. You must go against members of your group once within the 10 days. Each knockout round will have 7 days to be completed. You and your opponent should find a time for you to play. If after 7 days your match has not been played, a winner will be picked at random. If you cannot make it, you have the option to forfeit the tournament and give your opponent the right to advance.

Do I have to use a sword? How about a stick?

Yes you have to use a sword. Why? Because swords cannot destroy blocks on flat (fun fact!).

Why is it SM/Donator+ only?

Because the command to spawn the chicken is only available in flat. We do not want to fill survival with immortal chickens.

How do I spawn a football chicken? And how do I get rid of it if it is immortal?

Do /cball in flat to spawn a chicken and /ninja to get rid of it.

Where will the games be played?

We had have two stadiums to play in during the preseason: Intrepidum Stadium and Shadow Arena. But Joel has made a stadium for Code (woohoo!) so more stadiums to play in!

Each stadium has its own distinct features that will affect your matches... we suggest you pay each of them a visit before your first game.

Can I make my own stadium/field to host my people?

Absolutely! We would love to see new stadiums and it would be fun to have different games played in different environments! This will only be allowed for the next tournament, though.

What do the winners get?

Rewards are listed on the main topic!

What does getting seeded mean?

That means that you will be on separate brackets. The finalists of the preseason, Brenda and Oplegoman, will be on opposite ends of the bracket so they will not go against each other until the finals (assuming both of them win all their games). Likewise, the 3rd and 4th place from the preseason will only go against Brenda/Oplegoman in the semi-finals.

Those are the only hypothetical questions I can think of for now, do let me know on the main topic if you have any more questions!

Admin Application / Dev's Administrator App!
« on: October 08, 2020, 08:58:42 PM »

What is your in-game name?
My in-game name is Devereux.

Current Rank?
My current rank is Moderator.

How long have you been on the server?
I joined the server on 30 January 2015, but went inactive in June 2016. I resumed activity on 19 April 2020.

How long have you been a Moderator?
I was promoted to Moderator on June 6th, 2020.

What is your main specialization that stands out and can benefit the server?
One of my greatest strengths that I take pride in is player relations. I have introduced a new feature to the server, SpecializedCrates, and have reliably planned out events to engage with players, such as Roll on Wednesday, Chicken Football, as well as assisting with the Prom event. I personally think it's something higher staff could use; there are a lot of people that work behind the scenes but I would like to be the one out there with the players, engaging with them and making sure they have a great experience on our server. I hope, through my events, I can eliminate the months that have a lower player count (e.g. numbers don't drop from January onwards). I believe that the Administrator rank will allow me to continue developing events and features, including Crates 1.1 and perhaps one day, Olympics. Besides events themselves, I hope I can be very reachable--especially for those in my timezone--as I would like to be the number one person they come to when they have a problem.

Is there any Staff member that suggested you to apply to admin?
Yes, I will answer this in private if needed.

What experience do you have being a Moderator/Admin?
I only have experience on SentinelCraft, but my time here has taught me a lot. I genuinely believe I have great judgment; I am not afraid to punish when I feel that it is necessary, and I feel that my punishment is always justified. Throughout my days as a Moderator I have always felt uncomfortable with inconsistency in our punishments and some rules, and have done my best to straighten things out. I think that punishments are more consistent now, but I am still uncomfortable with some rules that we have (particularly, PvP ones) and I would like to discuss that next with the collaboration of players and the staff team. Even though SentinelCraft is just an online platform, this server, together with my experience in retail has helped me to be more patient in handling others. I realized that it was something I lacked to excel in player relations and I believe I have amended that. They say what you put in is what you get out of, and I think I have learned a lot through my contributions since the blank sheet I was four months ago.

What plugins are you familiar with?
I am very comfortable with SpecializedCrates, as I set it up from scratch with Oplegoman. I worked with .yml files through this process and dealt with errors that caused a pluginwide issue. I also have great knowledge, to a Moderator extent, on LogBlock, LWC, Towny, GriefPrevention and World Edit.

Are you currently staff on any other servers?
No, I am not.

Additional Information:
To be completely honest, I am a little bit disadvantaged when it comes to plugins and other "behind the scene" components over AMNOTBANANAAMA, or a lot of the higher staff. However, I am always willing to learn; I put in that effort to learn and given time and experience I will be able to get to that point. I have shown this before through SpecializedCrates--I went from having no clue of Oplegoman yelling "CRATES!" to successfully introduce it to the server alongside him. I believe I am one of the very few (below SA) that has played an essential role in setting up a new feature. It took a lot of time to implement and I think it was a success that balanced our economy.

I feel trusted among higher staff as I have been given permissions here and there, already putting me in a gray area between being a Moderator with a sprinkle of Administrator permissions. I appreciate that a lot and I feel that a promotion to Administrator will help a lot in future cases as it will reduce/stop the needs for special permissions. I realize it is not easy to give a Moderator the permission to broadcast, to world edit, to administer a plugin that may ruin the economy, but you guys have done that and I think that justifies what I have done for the server, and I can tell you that I have a greater vision of what is to come.

Thank you for reading my application, and I would like a private response please! <3

Special Application / Dev's Special App!
« on: July 17, 2020, 11:59:04 PM »

What is your in-game name?
My in-game name is Devereux.

Current Rank?
My current rank is Moderator.

How long have you been on the server?
I have been here close to three months.

Which special rank do you want to apply for?
Event Planner/Host

Why do you think you deserve that special rank?
I think with my time here I have shown what I can do both on and off screen and I am hoping the rank would give me special perms that would make managing events and games better and easier. It's something I truly enjoy doing and takes most time in the server. I also think that with this rank I can make more events in a more official capacity, especially in regards to prizes.

Did any staff member suggest that you apply?
Migas

Additional Information:
If you need more information, I am willing to discuss some of the plans I have over Discord.

Everything Else / [SCCF] Rules & Etiquette

SCCF Official Rules and Etiquette

By participating in tournaments, you agree to be bound by all of the terms and conditions as set out below.

Before the game

  • Contact your opponent to schedule a time to play. Try to be as flexible and understanding as you can.
  • When you arrive at an arena, please be respectful of the build.
  • Players should do /cballflyoff to avoid flying while in game.
  • Try to set up your jersey and sword some time before your match so your opponent does not have to wait.
  • Start a 2 minute warm-up--this is so that people know if they are lagging. If you are, you can reschedule the game to anytime before the deadline of said round.
  • To avoid arguments, a game can only start if there is a third person acting as the referee.

During the game
  • To start the game, each player must stand on the light block (glowstone, sea lantern, beacon, etc.) on their side of the field.
  • The chicken ball will then be spawned at the center of the field. Play begins when the referee says 'go'.
  • Please only use a knockback II sword. Not stick, not axe, not shovel, not anything else but a sword.
  • The game will be exactly 10 minutes and the referee will keep time. You do not have to stop time for outs/goals, but intentional waste of time will not be tolerated.
  • Out rules apply (i.e. if the chicken is hit out of bounds, the possession of the ball goes to the opponent).
  • In order to score a goal, the chicken must fall into the goal completely.
  • After a goal is scored, play resumes by placing a new chicken ball on the light block of the player who concedes. The goal scorer must stand behind the halfway line before play can resume.
  • In the case that one player lags terribly, we will allow the match to be suspended and resumed later (before the deadline of the round). Play resumes with the time remaining from the original game. Please do not use this rule for your own benefit (i.e. making it a timeout when you are losing fairly). It is meant to accommodate players that lag.
  • Play ends after 10 minutes and the one with the most goals is determined the winner. In the case of a tie/draw in a knockout round, sudden death will come into play.

After the game
  • Conduct sportsmanlike behavior. Congratulate your opponent, GGs, and do not be an ass when you lose.
  • Reply to the tournament's topic with the result of the match. It will be updated on Challonge as soon as possible.

General etiquette
  • If you cannot make a match, be the good guy and forfeit your match. Do not make us randomize a winner when it is your fault that a match is not played.
  • If you come to spectate, please do not be disruptive. Make some noise from the stands, cheer the players on but do not fly around needlessly.
  • Keep it classy, and enjoy the game(s)!

These rules are subject to modification, so do check back before each tournament.

I will be locking this topic, so if you have any questions/suggestions/concerns please contact me or CalvinPigeon on Discord (Devereux#7384 / CalvinPigeon#6183)

Chicken Football: Preseason

Welcome to the preseason of Chicken Football! If you have been in SentinelCraft for a while, you probably remember this event, hosted by CalvinPigeon, from back then. Well, good news: we are bringing it back for you. For newer members, please do give it a try!  ;D

What is Chicken Football?

Chicken Football is a 1v1 SM/Donator+ event that is played on a field in flat. You and your opponent will receive a knockback II sword which you will use to hit an immobile, immortal chicken to each other's goals. Every match will have a duration of 10 minutes. FAQs

What kind of tournament is it?

For this preseason, we will be doing a knockout tournament. Once sign ups close, I will be making tournament brackets and it will be posted here on forums.

Are there specific rules to the game?

Yes. I will finalize and post them before sign ups close.

Will there be a specific schedule for the games? I might not make it.

Each round will have 5 days to be completed. You and your opponent should find a time for you to play. If after 5 days your match has not been played, a winner will be picked at random.

We currently have two stadiums to play in: Intrepidum Stadium and Shadow Arena. To visit them:

Intrepidum Stadium currently does not have a warp. You can fly to -745 8 -4188 in flat to visit.
Shadow Arena has /warp SR_Arena. There is a warp sign at Tequila Tranquila. Shadow residents will play their home games here.

The top 3/4 will get seeded in season 1 which WILL have prizes. The preseason is to warm up and learn a little more about the game.

What does getting seeded mean?

That means that you will be on separate brackets, so that the champion and runner up do not meet in the quarter finals, for example.

Those are the only hypothetical questions I can think of for now, do let me know if you have any more questions!

Everything Else / Spooky's Leave
« on: July 18, 2016, 02:57:58 PM »
Hello guys. Yes, as the title says, I am leaving the server. Things have changed for me for some time now in real life, and I have decided that SentinelCraft is not for me right now. I will be moving abroad for further studies, and I will be staying in a dorm so I will not have proper access to internet connection in a pc/laptop, so I don't think I will be able to play Minecraft. I'm sorry if this is such a sudden info because I just got the response from the school there and so I will be moving soon.

With this, I would also like to step down from my staff position and resign from being part of the SentinelCraft magazine staff and a Ducktopian assistant. Like I said earlier, I'm sorry if this is so sudden because of reasons I stated above.

I will be giving all of my properties in the server to Nekoreos, formerly NadaCookie. I give her my consent to modify and use my things to her choice. Except for my money in the Ducktopian bank, I would like to give that to Pauizz for town purposes.

I would like to transfer my donor rank, perks and McMMo stats to Nekoreos as well if that is possible. If it is not permitted, then it's okay.

Lastly, I would like to thank each and everyone of you who has made my time in SentinelCraft great. A special thank you to the three owners who have worked hard and entrusted me to run a staff position, and Pauizz who have been with me since the first day. I wish you all the best and good luck to everyone.  :)

Hello guys. I created this topic for the discussion on the US' #1 best selling 'toy' (tho it really isnt) :)

Does anyone here cube? Or speedcube perhaps? What's your personal best? What cube do you use?

For those who don't know what a Rubik's cube is... Cmon y'all know what that is >_>

But, speedcubing is cubing in a whole new level, solving it as fast as you can- you solve the cube in sub-30 secs, sub-20, and sub-10. So, anyone?

Everything Else / Buying/ Borrowing Iron Golem Spawners!

Like what the subject says, I'm interested in buying/borrowing iron golem spawners to whoever has them. They are no longer sold in the shops and I'm in need of one. I'm more interested in borrowing it because I'm only needing it for a short period of time, but if you need me to purchase it, I'll buy it for any reasonable price. Thanks  ;D
